I am beyond excited for today's special guest vlog from author Victoria Schwab! She wrote the amazing The Near Witch (which you know, I just happened to LOVE!). She has a new book coming out in January 2013 called The Archived. Haven't heard about it yet? Here's a little more information:
Imagine a place where the dead rest on shelves like books.
Each body has a story to tell, a life seen in pictures that only Librarians can read. The dead are called Histories, and the vast realm in which they rest is the Archive.
Da first brought Mackenzie Bishop here four years ago, when she was twelve years old, frightened but determined to prove herself. Now Da is dead, and Mac has grown into what he once was, a ruthless Keeper, tasked with stopping often-violent Histories from waking up and getting out. Because of her job, she lies to the people she loves, and she knows fear for what it is: a useful tool for staying alive.
Being a Keeper isn't just dangerous-it's a constant reminder of those Mac has lost. Da's death was hard enough, but now her little brother is gone too. Mac starts to wonder about the boundary between living and dying, sleeping and waking. In the Archive, the dead must never be disturbed. And yet, someone is deliberately altering Histories, erasing essential chapters. Unless Mac can piece together what remains, the Archive itself might crumble and fall.
In this haunting, richly imagined novel, Victoria Schwab reveals the thin lines between past and present, love and pain, trust and deceit, unbearable loss and hard-won redemption. (Goodreads.com)
It sounds pretty darn amazing doesn't it? I was lucky enough to have received a galley of this book at ALA this year and have already dived in and let me just say, you are in for a treat. No sophomore slump for Victoria Schwab! As part of the tour, I have a special vlog from Victoria, telling you a bit more about The Archived and why she is doing a special Making History vlog tour. Here is more information about this tour:
And here is the great video Victoria made just for YA Librarian Tales and its readers. (I bet you're feeling pretty special right now. I know I am!)
Okay, Victoria and I obviously share a frugal soul when it comes to apartments and pet living. I too have erm, well, hidden the fact that I have a pet (a cat in my case!) from my landlord to not have to pay the freaking extra money. Not only was there a pet deposit but every month I had to pay an extra $20. I am not rich people! Fortunately, my cat has not had quite the adventures Victoria's dog has had. Though she certainly does love to spill her water dish on the floor every time I refill it with fresh water. I live with perpetual wet feet at home. I swear, it's like Victoria looked into my soul and knew I loved pets because this post IS ADORABLE
Okay, so you've seen MY video but you can also follow the awesomeness that is the Making History vlog tour by watching previous videos: Week One, Week Two, and Week Three. You can add it to your Goodreads shelf. SPREAD THE WORD! This book is going to be amazing and even more amazing is the contest Victoria is offering.
And, the awesomeness continues with a great swag pack giveaway courtesy of Victoria. YOU COULD WIN THIS!!
In addition, I am including a pre-order of The Archived along with this tote bag. It's open to US residents only. Contest ends Sunday, October 21 at 10:00PM CST. So basically, a pre-order of The Archived and a tote and swag?? This is a win for any reader.
